The vattalion: was. hard at work during the early portion of this month preparing for the annual par- ade in connection with the Queen's Birthday celebration, of which at that time as at present, the military was the most attractive feature. At the regular semi-weekly parade for drill, on the afternoon of May 18th, the newly organized band of the bat- talion 'nade its first appearance, and needless to say attracted much at- tention. The bandsmen had been practising for ome month only, but had made remarkably good progress, and on this ogeasion "played: two |. marching tunes very fairly."
