Almonte, May 21.--An interesting situation has developed here. = A young lady, accompanied by a child, disembarked from the Ottawa train PUR its Br TIVE TE, RS Ho body "KD peared to meet her, she made inquir- fes from the station master regard- ing Percy Oldroyd, who, she stated, * had married her while he was serv- ing with the Canadian Expeditionary Forces. According to the story told by her to the station master, she had requested Mr. Oldroyd to meet 'her at the station at Almonte. The station master, who knew a man of that name who had recently married a young lady of that town, did not give the newcomer any infor- mation and, as the hotels were all closed at the hour of her arrival, she was compelled to wait in the sta- tion: About four o'clock Mr. Oldroyd came to the station and the young lady apparently recognized him as her pseudo husband. He however, claimed that he did not know her and an argument ensued which was finally terminated by the station ag- ent ordering them to keep quiet. Mrs. Riley left last week for Alberta to visit her daughters, Mrs. F. Aylesworth and Miss Elsie Riléy. Mr, Riley accompanied her as far as Toronto. Mrs. Percy Valentine is in the hospital for treatment. Her mother, Mrs. J. Gates, Peterboro, is with her. Mrs* Robert Lyons has moved to the village. Mrs. Post, who has been visiting friends near Ro- chester, N.Y., has returned home. Bert Seaward has bought a farm near Glenvale from W. Foster. W. J. O'Shea has sold his general store and its stock to W. Davey. Mrs. C. Gill- esple, Wolfe Island, is visiting her aunt, Mrs. T. Weston. Mrs. Hunter, Hamilton, is the guest of Mrs. J.° Grise. She will visit her son, Peter Hunter, Watertown, N.Y., before she returns to her home.
