W. D. TAYLOR CABLES RESIGNATION | Queen's Assistant English | Professor to Join Staff of Aberdeen, Scotland, Many friends of Queen's University will regret to learn that Prof. W. D. Taylor has cabled his resignation as assistant professor in the depart- ment of English language and litera- ture. Prof, Taylor was a graduate of Oxford and Glasgow universities and & brilliant 'scholar. During his term at Queen's he was highly respected by staff and students and won many friends by his quiet humor and affa- bility. His scholarship was of high order and his lectures will be great- ly missed by students who under- stood his sincerity and painstaking work. However, in Aberdeen univer- sity at Aberdeen, Scotland, where he hes accepted a professorship in Eng- ifsh, he will have an opportunity to continue his splendid efforts. There is considerable difficulty now, it is believed, if retaining pro- fessors from the old land in_some of the Canadian universities. Tha .re- muneration now granted in the olg country universities has been con- siderably augmented and scholars are being induced to return to the English and Scottish universities whers the surroundimgs are most congenial to them.
