D. Giroux for park purposes and the other to issue ten-year deben- tyres to the extent of $33,000 to cover the town overdraft. Both were passed. = A Veteran Mail Carrier. Samuel W. Stafford, aged seventy- nine years, is probably one of the oldest mail carriers in this province. He is 'postmaster at Soperton, and also carries the mail withid a radius of twelve miles, and meets all the trains. He collects mail from about fifty boxes. For some years, prior to going in the mail service, he was village blacksmith. The Late Clark Nichols. ~ After a long and wearying illness, extending over a year, Mr. Clark Nichols, of South Elmsley passed away at the Public Hospital, Carle- ton Place, 'on Wednesday. He was a member of a family well-known in Elmsley township for the greater part of the past century and was the last surviving member of the pioneer family. He was seventy years old in August, but until a ygar or two ago was an active, well preserved man, much younger than his years. As clerk of the township 2nd road commissioner, he rendered good service to the community, the good roads in his native township having all been built under his super- vision. : Purdy-Johnston Mérriage. Mr. McElligott was about | sixty-three years of age and was born in Admaston township. After living | for some time in. the states he moved | to Eganville and wassfor some years | associated with his brother, C. Me- | Elligott, in the hotel business there, | afterwards conducting a livery. He | had been in poor health for a num-| ber of years past. The Late Mrs, T. Dickson. Mrs. Amelia Jan® Dickson, who died at Mountain View was the wi- dow of Thomas Dickson and was born at Whitby seventy-two years ago. She was a daughter of the late Samuel Fraser and had been a resi- dent of Mountain View for twenty- five years. Mrs. Dickson was a Methodist. Her. illness lasted for six weeks.
