From early morning streams of people arrived from every direction, all laden with the season's delicacy. By ten o'clock on Thurs- day it was almost impossible to drive through the throng that lined the s'=eets. The market could not ac- comodate one-quarter of the vehicles which were lined up for blocks in every direction waiting their turn to unload. In many instances the buy- ers intercepted them and purchased their load before they could get near the market. Crown attorney Wilson conducted the prose- cution, and the accused was repre- sented by his counsel, Mr. Simpdon, Napanee. A despatch from Kaladar says: "Several witnesses were examined, the principal ones being Mr. and Mrs. Jackson. The latter at first declined to testify, declaring she had come all the way from Hamilton and wanted her witness fee first.
