There has been a great deal of trouble throughout the county over thefts, and it has been impossible to cope with the situation. The appointment of a man from the provincial force should be a great help to the city police, as thers is great need of co-operation between the gity and the county. Some time ago, the city police were in great need of help from the county in run- ning down some thieves, and had they been able to get support, they would have been able to havé round- EC -- Death of Sister of Charity. After a long life, spent in the re- ligious work of her order, and in which she won a conspicuous place among those with whom she was as- sociated, Sister Mary Amn passed away at the Hotel Dieu on Sunday evening./ She was forty-five years a sister of charity, and her warm sym- pathies and devotion to those who came within her care won her many friends, who mourn her death. The {funeral took place to Bt. Mary's cemetery on Tuesday morning and the solemn pontifical mass was sung by Archbishop Spratt, assisted by Rev. Father- Powell, as deacon, Rev. A warning is issued by the presi- dent of the Burglary Underwriters' Association of Canada, regarding persons claiming to be insurance in- spectors. The notice states:-- "It has come to our knowledge that certain persons have been cal- ling at résidences, claiming to repre- sent burglary insurance companies, and asking to inspect the premises, making enquiry particularly as to where jewellery, furs and other valu- ables are located. Dr. Edwards on Tour. Dr. J. W, Edwards left on Satur- day on a tour of the northern town- ships. He is holding a series of meetings and discussing public ques- tions of particular importance.
