In addition the citizen also got a promise from the woman that she would pay him for the furniture in her house which she had purchas- ed from him. On the previous visit the woman had absolute- ly refused to pay her rént or for the goods he had given her. Instead, she picked up a gun and told him to "get out." HAD TWO RIBS BROKEN AT LOCOMOTIVE WORKS "Jack" Percy Pulled on to a 8haft--Had Narrow Escape. "Jack" Percy, a machinist at the Canadian locomotive works, wag the victim of a painful accident on Wed- nesday afternoon when he was pull- ed on to a shaft at which he was working and had two ribs broken. In is not known just how the accident Occurred, as Mr, Percy is an experi- enced machinist. It is supposed a part of his clothing got caught and before he was aware just what was happening, he was drawn into the machine. But for his loud eries for help, he might have been whirled round the shaft. His companions, seeing his predicament, ran and threw off the gear and rescued him. He was conveyed to his residence at the corner of Ear! and Division streats, and a doctor called to attend him. An examination showed that two ribs were fractured. ---------- i. Silk Hosiery.
