"THE PLACE TO GET THAT RECORD" { FURS Deale in Furs only. ourdier's BROCK STREET; | In the World of Sport Second Victory For The second game. with Montreal Metropoles jast evening at the cricket field resulted in a win for the Ponies, final score 5 to 3. It was in some respects one of the most interesting games played on the big diamond' this year. From the second to the eighth the visitors held the ldad hy one run, until Ponies broke away and scored three in the eighth, putting them two up. In spite of the fact the Metropoles were swamped on Thursday even- ing a bumper crowd turned out for the second game, attracted by ex- pectations of a come-back by the Montreal team and because of the fact that last night's event will pro- bably be the last large-calibre twi- light game, Derry threw a steady game for Ponies. The first man walked but that was the last through ticket for the evening. Six were fanned by him and he was touched for ten hits. Duschenil proved to be better as he warmed up. His support fell away badly in the pinches. Eight hits were gathered in from him and one lonely walk. He stfuck out five, Leveille walked first time up. Bates reached first when an uns 1c- cessful attempt was made to catch Leveille, Pigeon hit scoring both previous batters. Buell reached first on an attempt to catch Pigeon and went out at third. Duplessi hit scor- ing Pigeon. Beaudin and Boston struck out, leaving Duplessi on, In the last of the first Thompson and J. Evans hit right off the reel but Thompson was caught at the plate and Evans went out at second from Gallagher's grounder. Twigg had struck out. In the second, how- ever, Ponies took another lease on life. Saunders grounded to Bates. Cherry walked, W. Evans fanned. Coyne made first on Leveille's error and Cherry scored. Coyne scored on Derry's hit, Thompson grounded to pitcher leaving Derry on. Things went along quietly until the last of the eighth, with an occas- fonal hit and both teams getting out of bad holes. Then J. Evans came up and singled nicely to left. Twigg Cramps! Cramps ! Cramps! How to Stop Them Quick When you have cramps, it is a mighty quick relief that you want. Good old "Nerviline" is sure as death to relieve cramps in a hurry. Just a few drops in sweetened water, and the pain is gone. Buy a bottle of trusty old Nerviline to-day and keep it handy. Nerviline is a common household necessity, and is so useful in case of sudden illness at night, or when cramps, nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting or the like occurs. Sold everywhere in large 35 cents bottles. 'Smoke If smoke - try TAB by ly" TMetropoles-- the Ponies; made first on Bates' fumble. Gal- lagher grounded to Leveille, who Jost a beautiful chance for a double and Evans and Twigg both advanced. Saunders struck out. Cherry ground- ed to Beaudin who fumbled, ana Evans scored, W. Evans sent a hot one to Buell and the shortstop did not handle 'it right with the result that Twigg and Cherry crossed the plate, Coyne singled nicely to right but both he and W. Evans were left on When Derry popped to Beaudin. Metropoles made a great attempt to overcome, two run lead in the ninth but failed to make the grade, although Duplessi and Beaudin start- ed it away with two singles. Charles Kemp, wealthy farmer, has built a nine-hole course in his dooryard and seems to get as much enjoyment out of the minature links as if it was regular size, The distance of the first hole is 23 yards, the second 22 yards, third 21, fourth 20, fifth 13, sixth 25, sev- enth 26, eighth 14, ninth 27 yards. Total, 191 yards. The course was laid out by J. Fin- ley Kemp, who has travelled the globe and played golf in many coun- tries. Two shots are required for each hole, except the ninth, which requires three strokes because of a special hazard. An approach iron and a putter are the only clubs used. The club is composed of a dozen business men of South Charleston and is called the Merry Hour Golf club, An hour each morning and afternoon are devoted to the game by the members, and the course is kept in perfect condition by a spec- ial green's committee headed by Fin ley Kemp. players to give their champion all | possible support should she decide | to defend. John D. Rockefeller tells this story on himself: "Golfing one bright winter day,"1 had for a caddie a boy who didn't know me. An unfortunate stroke landed me in a clump of high grass, " 'My, my!" I said. 'What am I to do now?' " 'See that there tree,' said the boy, pointing to a tall tree a mile away. 'Well, drive straight for that.' "'I lofted vigorously, and, for- tunately, my ball soarde up into the air; it lauded, and it rolled right on to the putting green. * 'How's that, my boy?' I cried.
