The genera] opinion is that condi- | tion took the game for Queen's on Saturday when they defeated the R. C. A. in soccer 2 to 1 and by so doing captured the Whig trophy. In the first half, with the wind in | Queen's favor, there was no score. With the wind for them in the second half, the R.C.A. men worked hard and scored, Queen's took a fresh lcase on life and evened it up, and later, in the last ten minutes of play, added another, giving them a one- 20al lead which the soldiers tried in vain to overcome, In three previous games Queen's and the R.C.A. played ties and were not able to come to any decision. In the series for the Whig Cup Queen's defeated R.M.C. Staff and R.C.A. won ut over City by a close score. Contributed Only $40 For Gift Which Cost $1,000. The fans of the country have con- tributed just $40 toward the silver crown which was presented to Babe Ruth during the world's series, and which Babe was allowed to have about one: day. The Crown repres- jents an investment of $1,000. It was made for Frank H. Ellison, who is chairman of the "Babe Ruth {Crown Committee." It was thought the fans would fall over themselves to contribute. For $5 a fan's name would be engraved on the crown, or name and address for $10. A post office box was rent- led to take care of the contributions, but since the baseball season closed {the hero worshippers have not cared who is the "King ot Swat," not even when a league baseball autographed | by the Babe was offered for good measure. All told, eight $5 sub- | scriptions came in. Fans | Babe Ruth said all he knew about | it was they slipped the crown on!
