Putting in New Tank, The owners of the gasoline service station at the corner of Division and Princess streets are installing a very large gasoline tank. The old tank, which was put in when the service station was built, is not large enough to meet the demand. Gasoline Will Go Up, On Thursday a local representa- tive of the Imperial Oil Company stated that in view of the fact that the Standard Oil Company had an- nounced an increase of from one to two cents a gallon, the price of gaso- line in Canada would increase. Civic Welcome Given New Pastor, Rev. H. Gravenor, formerly of Southampton, new pastor of the Bap- tist church, Renfrew, was tendered a banquet and reception in the zens. Refrigeration Expert Hhere. A. M. MacLean, of the Linde Re- frigeration Company, Montreal, re- turned to the city on Wednesday, af- ter spending the last month at Camp Borden, where an ice-plant was in- stalled. Mr. MacLean has charge of the refrigeration work at the General Hospital here, but the work is not far enough advanced here to warrant his immediate attention' He left for Brockville Wednesday evening to in- spect a small plant there. Is Fatally Burned. Word has reached Belleville that Mrs, Mary Schuster, burned at the home of her son in Pittsburgh while before a grate fire, is not waking any progress toward reeovery. Mrs. Schuster is about ninety years of age, and is the widow of Rev, A. Schuster. She was for many years engaged in mission work in Belle- ville. Her son, Capt, W: E. Schuster, has been called to her bedside, Hopes for her recovery are very slight, Will Report on School Children. Miss Edna Squires, Toronto, a pro- fessional nurse engaged by the pro- vinctal board of health, has examined all the children in the Church street school, Almonte, and will make a detailed report to the local board of education. All the children have been weighed and measured, and the local doctors have also examined those that Miss Squires considered should be attended to, She has been there for three weeks and is now do- ing some follow-up work. Miss Squires and Miss Hamilton, who is now at Carleton Place, have been as- signed to the county of Lanark. They schools in each township. Magistrate Wins Action, A libel action brought by Police Magistrate A. R. G. Peden against Chief of Police Fred Nichols, Carle- tori Place, was tried before Justice Latohford at the Perth spring as sizes, and, on the evidence, the jury found a verdict in favor of the plain- tiff for $50 and all costs.
