The Tanners yielded first place in - group "B" to the hard-hitting Plum- ~ bers, by losing the Mercantile fixture | on Monday by the score of 9 to 2. The game was the equal of the bat- 'tle between Bankers and Tanners, and clean-cut baseball was played all through. Except for one bad inn- ' ings, the second, the game would have been close in scoring as well as dn play, but several errors aided in sending five of the sprinting Plum- | bers across the home plate, The Plumbers also received the benefit of the doubt in regard to a line-drive over third base, and this helped with two of the runs. ow yor Art. Quinn Called It a Day, After Stealing Four Bases, Fenning twirled like a champion until the fifth, 'when the Tanners seized their chance, when he appear- ed to weaken, and shoved across their only two runs of the game, to save a shut-out. The rally was starl- ed with two men down. A. Quinn singled, and J. Quinn and Bowen each smashed out two-baggers. The rally died quickly, with Fowler strik- ing out. The losers played a good defensive game, but couldn't connect with the old willow, and their errors were also too frequent to be anything but pain- ful. Ewart was hit freely in the opening four innings, and he was taken out in favor of Bowen, who did well for his first attempt this season. Shangrow and Richards hit 'at a .500 clip, while Art. Moviés have dropped away somewhat from their 1921 pennant- winning form and Bankers have im- proved greatly, so that the contest should be a good one, There will be plenty of time to see this game and attend the rugby meeting in the City Council chambers after. Therefore fans will kindly wait until after the collection at least. Limestone Rugby Clyb meets in the City Council chambers this even- ing and a large attendance is ex- pected. The men behind the club plan to put Kingston once more on the rugby map and negotiations have been under way for some time to form an eastern section of the O. R. F. U. or to get Limestones into the western section. This meeting will have an interesting programme. The' election of officers for the coming ~ Packaces I5¢ & You not only read it, you sing it. Shuts Out the Team From the North --Score 11 to 0. Sydenham, June 26. -- Sydenham won from Parham {in an Inter- county league fixture on Saturday by the score of 11 to 0. The home team thus returned the compliment they received at the hands of Parham three weeks ago, only rubbing it In a little more with a whitewash. Arthur Lee, twirling for Syden- ham, was in great form, and only cn two occasions did the visitors threat- en, and in the pinches Lee tightened up. He 'fanned" ten batters, allow- ed but four hits and hit one man. He was weaker at the bat than usual. Barr started on the mound for Par- ham, hut George Lee relieved him in the fourth, and succeeded in put- ting on the brakes for a little. In the sixth, however, he was taken ous, and Barr took up the task again, Lee and Barr each struck out two, and Barr walked one batter. Syden- ham collected 14 hits off the two hurlers. Neither team scored in the first, but in the second, Young hit a two- bagger and came home on an over- throw at third. Knapp's single brought H. Lee in, who had reachad second on another overthrow. Fox- ton singled in the third, and A. Lee sacrificed, Foxton coming home, Per- ry got to first cn an error, and Young crashed out a three-bagger, the for- mer crossing the plate. Three runs were added in the sixth. Young went to first on an er- ror, H. Lee singled and Young ¢ame home on an overthrow. Dubois and Knapp each singled, the latter's hit sending H. Lee and Dubois home. At this stage Barr came back again, and Blake and Foxton hit out. Two runs each in the seventh aad eighth were tallied by Sydenham for good measure. Bliss and Perry scor- éd in the seventh, and Bliss again brought in a run in the next inning, along with Foxton. Miller was a star at first base for Parham, getting everything that came his way. George Sullivan handled the game as only he can do it, and not a decision was disputed. . Parham---Barr p, ss; G. Lee, ss, p; Butterill, rf; Howes, ¢; Vande- water, 3b; Miller, 1b; W.
