A Lad Killed. Mrs. Wilbert Collier, Picton, re- ceived word that her little nephew, Orrin Hale, had been instantly killed on July 31st in Washington, D.C. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. O. G. Hale. His mother was formerly Miss Pearl Wilder, Picton. Was A Patient Sufferer. A citizen of quiet ways and good repute was the late Alfred Soper, Picton, who died on Monday in his eighty-fourth year. Eight years ago he suffered a stroke of paralysis and never aftérward enjoyed good health. During the last two years and nine months of his life he was confined to his bed. ------ Got Away With $50. E, Tremblay, B.Sc., a graduate of Queen's University, is now chief engineer of the Quebec wa'erworks, and Mr. and Mrs. Pelletier will make the ancient capital their homa for the future. Mr. Pelletier has estab- lished a good business there. Mr. Sand For Swimming Hole. On Saturday afternoon, the 'ug, Stanton, towed a scow loaded with sand to the "swimmin' hole" at the Richardson bathing house in Mac- donald park. The sand will be glad- ly welcomed by the bathers as the sharp stones have been cutting their feet. It is hoped that the sand will not get washed away.
