T. Chown's Appointment. 8. T. Chown has been appointed magistrate of the two counties of Renfrew and Lanark, and will have concurrent jurisdiction with the pre- sent magistrates of both counties. His cases will be chiefly in the Townships, where at present neo magistrate has special jurisliction. Mr. Chown neither applied for nor sought the appointment, which has been offered to him by the Depart- tient of Justice. The appointment is in accordance with the policy of the Government. His appointment will not effect the present magistrates. Former Kingstonian Dead. The death of a former Kingston- fan, in the person of Mrs. Mary Dunn, took place at Syracuse, N.Y., Wednesday. The late Mrs. Dunn was a resident of this city for many years, being the widow of the late John Dunn. She had lived in Syr- acuse thirty-five years and for the past few years had been In failing health. She was a devout Catholic, of lovable character, and her loss will be greatly mourned. She is sur- vived by two daughters, Miss Minnie L. Dunn and Mrs, John R. Walsh and one son, John R. Dunn, all of Syracuse. Interment took place at Syracuse. No Easy Money.
