TRADE MARKED WORD 'THERAPION' Is ON GEMULNE PACERS looks backward Dominion Council of Veterans' Alllance Has Become a Val= uable Federation. General satisfaction is being ex pressed by ex-service men through- out Oapada at the results attained by ll the Dominson Council of the Domdn- ll ton Veterans' Alliance in session a: ll Ottawa last week. The first conter- ll ence of representatives of all veteran i organizations held in conjunction ll with the Dominion convention of the G.W.V.A. at Port Arthur a year ago has ripened into a federation which | | has functioned succesafully. The legislative committee of the Dominion Veterans' AlHance will as- sume the tasik of marshalling the ax- service men's case for additional re- establishment measures before the Royal Commiseion, appointed at the last session of parliament to enquire into the subject. The Flanders poppy as the "Flower of Remembrance" bids fair to become a permanent custom, and the G. W. V. A. hopes '0 have the manufacture of the silken flowers for the Armis- tice Day anniversary preserved as a non-competitive occupation for the disabled men. Many of the claims for adjustment li {of pay and allowances and other army payments which aré still being pre- sented to the Militia Department at Ottawa, are due to a lack of informa- if | thon as to regulations, etc. Claimants lf | who have falled time and again to secure adjustments by writing direc: hands of the Adjustment Department, of the Dominfon Command, G. W. V. A. Ininetances where contentious points arise, the tase 1s taken up direct by the G.W.V.A. adjuster with the Militia Authorities, and often the missing link of information 1s thus presented. TRADED WIFE FOR FORD. Teamster Did Not Long Enjoy Is sess.on of Oar. Syracuse, N.Y., Nov. 4.--Aec- cording to a deed of barter mace public by a prominent official 1m Oswego, F. R. Woodruff, a team- ster of Fulton, signed over his wife on July 18th, 1921, to Grover Coant for his Ford touring car and ell "the considerations, including one tire, one pump and all the 'toules' in the car at the present time. I let all bonds dro on my wife this 18th day of July, 1921. 'Sind' Frank R. Woodruff, Grover Coant, Neda , | Woodruff." The spelling in the foregoing deed is as shown here. Woodruff did not long emjoy his Ford, for he failed to make payments due and it was taken away from him. The case came to light when Fulton authorities discovered that Wood- ruff's children were neglected and an investigation brought out the strange facts of the barter. Mrs. Woodruff is sald to be in Utica, but her ad- dress is not known to the author- ities. Coant is still in Fulton end said to-day that he was ready to have been agreeably surprised after - they have placed the matter in the | trade hfs present car for woman. Municipal Board felt that the proposal of the City Council to pave Station street with the sewer cost, lay too heavy | a burden on property owners amounting to nearly 60 per cent. of the value of their property, it re- fused today its sanction to the city's plans, although it was recognized as imperative that the road be paved on account of the volume of traffic using it. A final order was, how- ever, stayed for '30 days to allow the city council opportunity to draw up a scheme of financing the pave- ment, which will not fall so heavily on the owners of property.
