An appeal on behalf of the sick and afflicted is one that calls for a contribution from the more fortunate and all genetous- ly disposed have the assurance that their contributions are wisely used, for the Hotel Dieu is one of thc nodel institutions of Canada, being equipped with the most efficient ap- paratus and giving most scientific service The bazaar is now in full swing. Lee, Beamsville, Ont., writes: --'"'I am delighted to let you know what I have to say regarding the good Milburn's Heart and Nerve Pills did me. » A short time ago I suffered with heart and nerve trouble, and was so bad I could not sleep, only about two hours each night. My heart was so bad I had spells when driving on the road and would faint away, and neighbors woiild carry me in from my wagon. I also took these spells in the night and during my daily work on the farm. My nerves were So bad 1 would jump out-of bed, ap@' was then compelled to walk the floer before I could settle down again, but after taking a few boxes of Milburn's Heart and Nerve Pills I'¢in honestly say I 'am a relieved man. I now feel in the best of health, in fact, the best I've been in for thrae years, and can do any class of work with pleasure where before life was a burden to me." The Grand had a charming attrac- tion last night in ""Marjolaine," a musical version of Louis N. Parker's Pomander Walk," a drama written many years ago. It is a handsome production, and delighted a good- sized audience. The story unfolds a dainty romance, while it is amusing throughout the tuneful music add- ing much to the enjoyment of tha production. No doubt the scene of the play is familiar to many. '""Marjolaine" is based on fine groups of diversified families, the :esidents of '"Poman- der Walk," an old row of houses "out Chiswick way," in London, over a hundred years ago. The ¢n3- tumes of both the male and female principals are a feature of the show, and are befitting the perisd of the story. The company is an excellent one. In the role of the winsome 'Marjolaine," Miss Vir- ginia: O'Brien was exceptionally good, while her singing of "Nesting Place," made a big hit. Lennox role of Jerome Brooke-Hoskyn Esq, calls for special mention. Frank Moulain, the chesty admiral, gave a true portrayal of the part. Others doserving high praise are Marian Mears, as Barbara; Royal Cotter, as Rev. Sternroyd; Winfred Young, as Jack Sayle; Arthur Geary, as Baron Otford; while a word of praise is also due to the girls in the en- semble who showed talent. The stage settings are good, that show- ing the row of fine quaint little houses along' the "Walk," being most impressive. The musical num- bers were warmly applauded; the audience calling for encores. "Mar- jolaine" and "Cuddle Up" were very popular selections. Cadets at Target Practice. Major McManus is arranging for the winter indoor rifle shooting by the high schoul cadets which is cal- culated to develop the local teams for the next King's Prize competition and the Imperial Challenge Shield.
