Cohen States The Facts. Kingston, Dec. 1.4-(To the Edit- or):Someone having been unkind enough to infer that I am going to- make something out of the deal if the purchase of the Division street property of the Kingston Brick & Tile Co. by the city is effected, 1 think I should make my position in the matter clear to every one, and therefore beg to give you the follow- ing facts: In October, 1920, I the Kingston Brick Company the iron and" machinery and later com- | menced negotiations for the pur- chase of the land. When the C.P.R. acquired a right of way across one corner. of the lapd to divert their main line, it made the property éven more suitable as a site for an indns- try or fair grounds. Being a mem- ber of the Industries' Committee and knowing the city's needs it, occurred to me that it was worth more to the ¢ity than to an individual, =o I turn- 6d over my option to the city. The purchase price is only $9,000, or - about $220 per acre, as compared with about $1,000 previously paid by this eity for industrial sites. I have agreed with the city to leave the buildings and machinery intact as long as possible, so that they may be offered to a prospective mannfacturer and to remove them in tase the land they occupy ds required, All-the advantages in the deal will thus be for the city. There is noth- ing in it for me except the-satisfac- tion in knowing I have been able to offer the 'city something worth while, Yours very truly, bought from and Tile buildings --1. COHEN.
