MONDAY, JUNE 25, 1023, THE DAILY BRITISH WHIG | The First W FLOWER SUNDAY SERVICES In the Methodist Churches-- Presentations at the Prin- cess Street Church. The annual flower gervice of Syd- enham street Methodist Sunday school was held on Sunday morn- ing. The church auditorium was beautifully decorated with flowers. The arranging of the programme was In charge of a committee of which Miss Ida QGarbutt was con- veuor. The programme consisted of numbers given by the members of the school. C. 8. Anglin, superintend- ent aoted as chairman. Miss Doris Pound extended the welcome of the scholars to the parents and friends of the school. The cradle roll depart- ment, of which Miss Ruth Lyons Js the superintendent, gave a number. The exercise "Time" was given by the children from the four depart- ments of the school. John Alexander also assisted in this exercise. The Home department dialogue, given by Miss I. McIntyre and Miss Thelma Bogart, gave the large congregation some idea of the great work whicn this department is doing for the adult members of the congregation | who are unable to attend the Sunday school -- sions. The senior department gave a very fine exercise entitled "Canada." Les- lle Joliffe gave a recitation entitled "The Missionary Hen," and Miss Maureen Moffatt made an appeal on behalf of ds towards the support of the ool. Mrs. W. M. Campbell presided at the organ, and the choir .- was composed of senior girls. Sommariyy ---- At Princess Street Church. The annual flower day service wag held at Princess street Methodist church Sunday morning, and was attended by an exceptionally large congregation. The children contri- buted a fine programme. During the service, a most inter. esting event took place, when life membership pins of the Mission Band was presented to Mabel and Jean Waddell, by Miss Aleda Gard- ner, superintendent of the junior department of the Sunday school. Another pleasant feature was ths presentation of a group photograph of the first cluss of Tuxis boys of Princess street church, taught by Rev. J. A. Waddell. Mr. Parkhouse made the presentation. Waddell, who has been pastor of Princess street Methodist church for the past five years, said farewell to the members of his con- at both gervices on Sun- day. At the close of this well thoughtout discourse, Mr. Waddell said he wished to say a few parting words to the members of the church. He said that thers was no place in Canada as dear to him as . Kingston. Twenty years ago he was accepted as a probationer Methodist ministry and he had spent those twenty years working in the Kingston district, having first been posted to Perth Road cirouit. He thanked the members of the official board of the church and the mem- bers of the different organizations of fhe church for thelr loyalty to himself and Ms wife, and said that his work would not have been a suc- cess without their able assistance.
