In the statqment of the G. W. V. A. it is asserted that Liddell emi- grated to Canada from England some thirteen years ago, and homesteaded near Carberry. He eniisted in May, 1916, and served in France until Aug- ust, 1918. He was gassed at one time and was also treated in hospi- tal during his period of service for mobilized, it is stated, without pen- sion. Subsequently LiddeM showed signe of depression and was ultimate- ly cared for at the asylum in Selkirk. In the fall of 1922 he was deported to England by the authorities, &t a time when his mother was absent on a visit to the Old Country, and ac- cordingly not aware of what was tak- ing place.
