In the police court on Friday | morning, Magistrate Farrell com mitted Cecil John Edwin Walker, alias John Maclennan, for trial oe- | that he did unlawfully by false pre- tences and false misrepresentations poses. The accused pleaded 'not guilty" through his counsel, A. Re- velle and elected trial before judge The evidence of the plaintiff was taken and then the accused was com- mitted for trial. The plaintiff stated that she was nineteen years old last May 24th, and told about meeting the accused in Quebec, where they were both employed at the same in- stitution. Plaintiff swore that the accused proposed marriage to her and af- | terwards told her that he had been | married, but had been divorced and | wanted to know if this would make any diffsfence to the proposed mar- | riage. Plaintiff said "no." Later on { the accused told her that he had been married a second time. | Plaintiff also told about coming to Kingston on June 2nd, last with | the accused and living with him as man and wife. Questioned 'by the magistrate the | { plaintiff stated that she knew the accused was married and divorced | and married again, but when press- | would think of marrying a man who | was already married. stated that she was "willing to take tho | chances."
