The father was an idealistic pacifist, hating war with the depths of venom, and he had devoted his life to plan- ning ways and means of ending war- fare. His daughter was an ardent convert to his peaceful tendencies, and the youth also evinced enthus- iasm-on the subject of ending war. Suddenly the garden gate burst open and a servant dashed in with a newspaper, flarfng with large head- lines. Stunned, the trio read that war had been declared--ithat Italy "was calling to its sons to v6lunteer. Word has been received heére to the effect that the men were at Ogdens- burg, N.Y., recently and the police and the immigration authorities at Kingston have been advised to keep sharp lookout for the men.
