During the Perth-Smith's Falls ball game, a visiting player batted a low foul bad, the ball striking Ar- thur Thornton fair on the bridge of the nose, fracturing the bone and re- ducing the nose to & pulp. His nose bled profusely and although he suf- fered intense pain, he bore up with the true courage of a Boy Scout, Arthur being a prominent member of the Perth Boy Scouts. Mrs. Dowsley Died at Calgary. The death occurred in Calgary, Alta., recently of a former well known resident of Brockville. Refer- ence is made to Mrs. Ralph R. Dows- ley. Before her marriage she was Miss Florence Parker, Frankviile. She was born in Kitley. 'Following her marriage she took up residence in Brockville, where her husband for some years conducted a grocery. They left seventeen years ago and had since lived in Calgary. Ireton. At the advanced age of eighty years the death took place on July 16th of Mrs. Robert Ireton at the Imperial Hotel, Penth, the residence of her son, Mr. F. A. Lambert. Her maiden mame was Blizabeth Hudson and she was 'born in Ireland, a daughter of the late James Hudson. Her husband, Robert Iretom, pre- deceased her some years ago. De- ceased was a Roman Catholic in religion, of a kind and loving dis- position and will be greatly missed by friends and neighbors. Surviving are one son, F.
