Bovay were married at Belléville on Aug. 6th. Miss Edna Guthier, an employee of the Superior Electric Company, Ltd., Pembroke, suffered a painful injury on Thursday afternoon when her finger was crushed while working a machine. She was removed to the hospital where it was found neces- sary to amputate the index finger of her left hand. Committee Appointed. Victoria Alexandra "Zan" Hamil- ton and the late Mrs. Hamilton, R.R. No. 5, Pembroke, became the bride of Reginald Vincent Reynolds, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Reynolds, ot Johannesburg, South Africa, on Aug. 6th. Rev. Dr. Ellis officiated at the ceremony in the Methodist church. In September Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds will go to New York, where they will take a year's course in medi- cine, following which they will leave for South Africa, to do private mis- sionary work about £2,000 miles horth of Johannesburg. St. Cyril's Catholic church, Alex- andria Bay, N.Y., which hag been in process of construc¢lion for the past three years, will be completed soon and dedicated during the last of this month or the first part of September. It is an imposing structure, located on Walton street. The tower of the church, topped by a cross, can. be seen from a great distance on the St. Lawrence river, The exterior is built of red native granite, quarried from an immense rock which formerly occupied the site on which the church now stands.
