Record Potato Yield. W. H. McNish & Sons, Elm Grove Farm, Lyn, have just completed harvesting a three-acre fleld of po- tatoes of the Irish Cobbler and Green Mountain varieties which yielded between 900 and 1,000 bu- shels. Considering that 100 bushels to the acre is the average for the whole Dominion, this yield is cer- tainly a great average which shows the advantage of certified seed, good fertility and correct cultural me- thods. ------------ Engagements Announced. Neilson, and signed by the wardens on behalf of the parish, ---------- An Anniversary Event. The fortieth anniversary of Christ church, Athens, on Nov. 13th, promises to be an historic event. All former rectors, living, have signi' fied their intention of being pre- sent, namely, Rev. R. B. Patterson, M.A., Woodbridge, rector from 1904 to 1911; Rev. W. G. Swayne, L.Th., Bath and Ernesttown, reetor from 1911 to 1918; Rev. George Code, M.A.;' Newboyne and Lombardy, who was there from 1918 to 1820. Rev, R. N. Jones, 1882 to 1889; has' since passed to" his great reward, but it is hoped that his widow, Mrs. Jones, Brighton, will be present. Rev. He was systematic and kept an account book, which later fell into the hands of Dr. Willlam Carnift, through kindness of the former's descendants, and in it among others, were the following edfries: March 23, 1786: For raising the sawmill, 2 gallons and 3 pints of rum," April $0: 1 quart of rum, 2s. May 265th: 4 gallons and 1 quart of rum. for raising the grist mill, 7s 6d. 26th: 1 quart of rum for 'the people at work at the dam.
