Watertown, N.Y., Nov. , 7.--The three members of the crew of the steamer Glen Lochle swept away in a small boat yesterday morning, were Ernest Rousby, oiler, aged twenty-three, Denmark; John Brody, oller, aged twenty-three, Montreal, and Daniel Marchant, watchman, Champlain, Que. No hope is held out for them. Marked with a'bell and a gas buoy, the Charity shoal sticks up in the middle of the ohannel, a menace to all navigation and it was there that the vessel struck. It was two in the morning when the crash shook the entire vessel as she stuck on the shoal. It was a desperate situation. The boat was leaking badly and it was twelve miles to the nearest port, but the captain ordered full steam ahead with aff pumps working, and with the vessel gradually settling in the 'water, won the battle. . It was a desperate two hours from tour to six o'clock and the men show the effect of the strain, for the decks were awash when the Glen Lochle reached the harbor at Cape Vincent. The steamer lies in seventeen feet of water at the Pyke Coal Company trestle with her trim painted hull almost submerged. Charity shoal has claimed anoth- er victim and lake captains will add another black mark agdinst that prticularly dangerous point in the main/channel. There Have been many wrecks on Charity shoal, among the |, most important having been that of | the steamer Rosedale of Montreal, about fifteen years ago. The Rose- dale was finally salvaged and taken to Montreal for repairs. A Bargain in Men's Oaps. A special purchase of men's caps in nice neat patterns with and with- out fur bands to go at $1.
