On Friday morning, Day & | | Reyelle, acting for Mrs. Fitzgerald | | of Hinchinbrook, who recently sued | {| a man by the name of Hill at the | | Division court hearing at Verona { for a note for $200 but lost her | | case, applied to Judge Lavell for a| | new trial. | { When the case was heard at Ver- | | ona about a month ago, the plantiff | | contended that the note for $200 [aa been signed by Hill. When the | defendant was called there were | | some sensational developments. Mr. | | Hill stated that he never saw the | note before and said that he was absolutely certain he did not sign | | the note. Mr. Hill also had witness- | | es who stated that they heard the | | plaintiff say that Mr. Hill would pay for something. When the note ! was examined by the judge, it was | evident he was not satisfied that | the signature was just right, and | | asked the defendant to sign his | { name. When the two signatures | | were compared, the court was satis- fied that the defendant had not | signed the note and dismissed the | action.
