J. S. N. Leslie and his able staff of chairmen of the respective episodes in our historical pageant and also to the citizens composing the caste. It is without fear of contradic- tion that I express myself in saying the historical pageant stands pre-eminent as being second to none on the contin- ent of America. This was admitted by the worthy and qualified pageant mas- ters, Messrs Siabald, and Miles, of the John Rogers Producing Co., stating emphatically it was the best they ever presented to any community, all of which proves conclusively that I made no mistake when I signed the contract with the John Rogers Co. knowing full well that Kingston had the talent. All that was wanted was to bring it forward. Special mention might be made in reference to the poultry and dog exhi- bits, the former under the able manage ment of Benjamin Whitney, It was freely expressed that it was the best ar. Thomas B. Folger, who with his able staff of workers were ever ready to assist in making the exhibition representing Kingstons' 251st birthday one may well go down in history as never before equalled in the history of our good old Limestone city. The electric work was in charge of James Harris, who was on his work twenty-four hours a day. Many of our visitors ex- pressed themselves as to how well the lighting system was so successfully car ried out, The last but not the least, the "press." I found the press ever ready to co-operate to its fullest. We of Kingston have every reason to feel proud of both papers. I submit they have no equal between Montreal and Toronto, and compare very favorably with even Montreal and Toronto. The editors of those papers are after all only human; it is conceded to err is human to forgive is divine; but from my viewpoint if every citizen worked as faithfully to develope our city as do the two editors; we would find our- selves pulling at the same time and all pulling together to make Kingston a "BIGGER AND BETTER CITY." and yours, Sec.
