Harold Lloyd never takes a drink, {but in "Hot Water" bis newest | comedy, at the Capitol Theatre, | Thursday, Friddy and Saturday, he is called upon to appear under the influence of liquor for nearly two thousand feet of film, and that he does it naturally is a tribute to his ever growing art. J The noted comedian is ptabably one of the cleanest living men ap- pearing before the camera. Al- though he doesn't proclaim the fact in public, he never has been addicted either to drinking or smoking, to usual vitality which characterizes the man. Lloyd has played a drunk before in pictures, notably in "High and Dizzy," but in "Het Water" he portrays the part to perfection. While lacking In the story values of "others of his pictures, being built purely for laughs, "Hot Water" gives Lloyd great oppor. tunities for acting, and he handles every situation in finished style. As the young husband, who is driven to dire straits by a nagging mo- ther-in-law, Lloyd has one of those pleasing roles which have made him so extremely popular with motion picture followers. In construction "Hot Water" follows more along the lines of "A Saflor Made Man" than any of his latest swocesses. It has just enough plot to hold together the continuity, and to permit build- ing up to laughs. In "Hot " 'with Lloyd are Jobyna Ralston, who is rapidly establishing herself as one of the screen's test prospects; Jose- phine Crowell, who designates her- golf "The Meanest Woman in Pic- tures"; Chatles Stevenson, built to order for his role as the lazy bro- thefin-law, and Mickey McBan, as the mischievious little brother of Jobyna. GREATEST PICTURE EVER MADE James Cruze, producer of the Paramount picture, Wagon," at the Strand theatre to- day and Thursday, says it is the greatest picture ever made. It 48 certainly a pretentious screen offer- ing, the story of which deals with the love trials of a young couple 'while travelling across_the conti- nent in a wagon train. Indian at- tacks, the fording of swolien streams, a genuine buffalo hunt, a prairie fire and many other drama- tic incidents are a few thrills which this superior screen ~ offering pre- sents to the motion picture dublic. ---------- "ADULT EDUCATION" Professor J. F. n, of -Regic- polis College, gave a very fine ad- dress last night before the Catholic Women's League, on "Adult Educa- tion," in which he pointed out the opportunities that existed for educa- t.on amohg those who had not been able to complete their education while at school. He stated that the public library was a splendid help for adult education and stressed the importance of education in the pres- ent day. Professor Quinn's address was appreciated by those who heard him. Miss Doolan, president of the Lea- gue, acted as chairman, and expressed the appreciation of the members for the fine talk. During the evening a splendid musical programme was rendered, consisting of s plano solo by Miss Olive Simpson, piano trio by Miss Mary Kennan, Miss Kathleen Keenan and Miss Simpson, and solos by Mrs. J. L. Jerome, accompanied by her sis- ter, Mrs. R. G. Betts. ns i tp. Hughson-McLean Wedding.
