"REVIEW OF CONDITIONS GIVEN IN THE 0.B.AA. . Every Effort Being Put For- ward to Make Amateur Baseball a Success. The Ottawa Citizen says: "The turn which events took at 'the annual meeting of the Eastern _ Ontario Branch of the O.B.A.A. on Baturday last was a disappointment to those who have been behind the ization during recent years and Who, as a result of their efforts, saw amateur baseball come into its own fn almost every city and town of 1 ce in the district, but mot- withstanding the temporary setback, _ they are not by any means disheart- They are simply putting the determination to show that the branch will come through the ap- Pproaching season with a good show. * "The teams which "jumped" the 'O.B.AA. to line up with the mew Jeague are said to be finding them- "melves in & somewhat peculiar posi- 'tion, and they are now wondering Where they stand in the matter of games. Take the Lanark League, for instance. It comprised the towns of Smith's Falls, Carleton Place and Perth, and now that they have voted 10 withdraw and to enter" the néw "organization, they are unting moses, as it were, and trying to fig- ure out where the Interztedfate teams will be found for them to com- pete against. There is said to be no prospect of them developing inthe league just formed, and it will not be at all surprising if the Eastern branch of the O.B.A.A. yet receives an application from some of them to got back Into the fold of organized baseball. Almonte was counted upon for a time as an almest certain addi. tion to the Lanark League, but the latest word is to the effect that the town will not be in the game--at least for this summer, "A ray of sunshine for the O,R.A. A. comes from the Eastern Ontario League, which last year comprised irockville, Spencerville, Morrisburg, rdinal and Prescott. It is rumor- that Spencerville is so dissatisfied fer the matter in which the league's were conducted in 1924 that it will not be found in the organiza- this season. Morrisburg is re- to be out of the game owing o lack gt funds, while Prescott and nal have voted to break away #nd join the new league. As its representative stated at Satur- day's meeting, the Brockville club was behind organized ball, regard- less of what action was taken by the representatives of the other teams in that league. "Brockville can easily be taken care of. There are two courses which can be followed, either Brockville can be taken into the Ottawa Lea- gue, where it will have real competi- tion with such intermediate clubs as Mortimers, the 38th Battalion, St. Anthony's, the Standards and the Metropolitans, or it can go into the Central Ontaric League with King- ston, Wolfe Island and others. It is understood, however, that the men behind the guns at Brockville are hands up to come into the Ottawa arena. . Arnprior is yet to be heard from. The town league is strong for or- ganized ball, and if the intentions of some of those behind the teams. is carried into effect, they will be lined up with the O.B.A.A. "The youngsters in the Ottawa League, are going to make things hum. There are mo less than twenty-' four teams of juveniles, juniors, ban- tams and midgets, which is sufficient to ensure a real good season's sport for the minors, to say the least. "Allan Grimes is again the presi- dent of the juniors, and as the daddy of them all, he expects more than 8 busy year. Some of the teams will be composed of practically new ma- terial throughout, owing to the boys stepping up into older company by reason of the age limit applicable to each class, and to even make a guess as to the prospects of any one team would be out of the question. The kids, however, will soon be warming up on the various diamonds, and the season will not-be far advanced be- fore they will commence to show their true form. oo "While the work of organization insofar as the youngsters is con- cerned, the light is in the window for those intermediate ¢lubs who have, forsaken the O.B.A.A. for the time being, and should they desire to return, the door will be open. It is unfortunate that an organization such as the Lanark League should find itself in such an unpromising position. © Second thought miay 're- sult in it yet being found travelling in the same company as it enjoyed in 1924."
