Dr. Avison has been for thirty years in Korea and charmed his Hearers by his bright stories of the simple Korean people and their ac- ceptance of the Christian faith. Bureau Can Tell Weather Three Days Ahead--Farmer Wants Four. Spraying has opened up a new problem for the meteorologists, The various kinds of spraying treatfnent, for the wet and dry, are found to he more efficacious in some descriptions of weather than in others. The weather bureau is now able to give three days warning ahead for these purposes but the insatiable farmer insists on at least four. It was formerly thought that dry weather was the more eficacious for spraying, but this is a general error, the period just before a steady rain being regarded as the most effective time for the application. In such diseases as apple-scab'the damp heat of summer is more favorable to the development of the fungus which causes the disease. The farmers therefore rely more than ever on the weather bureau. ------ G. H. Devine has been elected to the presidency of the Arnprior cur- ling club, succeeding Maurice Sulli- van. W. A.
