Clapp, at her home in Picton, after a lingering illness. Mrs. Clapp, who was Miss Kate Allen, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Allen, was well known here, as she always resided in Adolphustown, until a few years ago when, with her husband, she moved to Picton. The funeral services, which were ' con- .ducted by Rev. Mr. Mellor were held at her late residence on Saturday, followed by interment in the ceme- tery at the Methodist church, Adol- phustown, and were attended.by a large number of relatives and friends. The sympathy of all goes out to the five children who have lost a loving mother. Among recent visitors were Mr. and Mrs. G. Mogg, Galt, at Russel Cousins'; Mrs. G. Foster and little daughters, also Miss Arbuckle, Ot- tawa, at F. BE. Foster's; Mr. and Mrs. C. Pierce and family, Bongards, at W. J. Magee's; Alfred John Den- bigh, at H. John's; A. R. Mrs. James Bird is suffering with quinsy. Reeve Johnston is also on the sick list. The local telephone system is giving most unsatisfactory service. Mr. Perry needs to do some extensive repair work. Everyone is regretting the approaching removal of Rev. H. B. and Mrs. Neal to Wooler circuit. They have made a host of warm friends during the three years of their pastorate. Cherry . Valley, June 15.--James A. Whattam passed away at his home, on Royal street, on Friday, June 5th. Mr. Whattam had been falling in health for several months, Deceased was born in South Marys- burgh and had, spent his life there, being a prominent farmer in that township. His wife, Florence Palm- atier, survives. Messrs. Henry What- tam and John Whattam, Picton, are brothers and Mrs. Willlam Head, Picton, and Mrs. Ellen Astrander are sisters. Mr. Whattam was highly es- teemed by his neighbors. There was a very large assemblage at his fun- eral on Monday. Rev. Mr. Barnes conducted the sérvice. Interment was made in Cherry Valley cemetery. Duffy-Mahon, Nuptials. Crow Lake, June 10.--A very pleasant event took place, on June 3rd, when Daisy Belle, third daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. James Mahon, became the bride of John H. Duffy. The bridal party motored to Perth where they were masried by the Rev. A. son. The young couple were ynattended. The bride was at- tired in navy tricotine with sand blouse of alithyme crepe and hat to match. A reception was given at the home of the brifle's parents where many friends and acquaint- ances spent a very pleasant evening. The large collection of gifts, costly and well chosen testified to the es- teem in which the young couple are held.
