Macdonell for Royal Military College. Two valuable military relics dat- ing back to 1859 have just been re- ceived by Lieut.-General Sir A. C. . Macdonell at the Royal Military Col- lege, from Ottawa headquarters. In that year, on Monday, January 10th, at Shorncliffe, England, H.R. H. the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII, presented the colors to the regiment which had Qeen raised fn Canada and was called the 100th, the Prince of Wales Royal Canadian Regiment of Foot. It was the first regiment raised in a colony for gen- eral service, and it was the first pub- lie act of the Prince of Wales, then only nineteen years of age. This regiment was recently dis- banded and the Mess Plate is one of the valuable possessions of the Rayal Military College's many relies. To this has now been added a wood cut, picturing the presentation in 1859, and pyblished in the Nlustrat- ed London News of January 21st, 1859.
