LARGE AUDIENCE ROARS AT LLOYD "For Heaven's Sake" Has His | Other Plotures Faded Into | Background. { It is next to useless to try to tell | in so many words just how good the famous Harold Lloyd picture, "For Heaven's Sake" at the Capitol is. | The picture, which started a four- {day run on Wednesday night, creat- 6d more laughter in one moment than any other picture of its kind has in months. Harold Lloyd has been saen in some wonderfully elever and highly laughable pictures. In | "High and Dizzy" he was great, in fa ety Last" he was even better, in | "Girl Shy" he provoked uproarous | mirth and In his more recent pic- | ture, "The Freshman' 1e scored the | 8reatest triumph of them afl but in | "For Heaven's Sake" the great Screen comedian has gone many | Steps further and good as theses | Other pictures all were, they are not [to be compared with his latest suc- | cess. Harold Lloyd, as a young mfilion- aire, accidentally becomes sponsor | to a missfon in the slums of a great | city, where an old gentleman and his daughter are trying to bring sun- shine into the slum life. The girl | becomes an attraction for him and | he becomes part of the mission, Un- | til his coming it has been impossible {to get the real "hard" ones to the | mission. Harold Lloyd does. See how. His friends kidnap him to save him from marrying the mission girl and tive of the "gang" go to rescue him. It turns out that he has to look after them and how he gets them back to the mission covers the main part of the picture. It is a scream from the very beginning to the close, and although previous | Lloyd pictures have made audiences almost jump out of their seats by the | stunts that are taken off in Lloyd | pletures, this one, "For Heaven's | Sake?' has more thrills in a foot than the others have had in the whole reel. For an evening of genu- ine laughter that cannot possibly be overcoms, this latest Lloyd picture Is one to see. None should miss it. ---- | | MARINE eres] The Ontario car ferry No. 1 arriv- ed here from Cobourg on Thursday morning to undergo repairs. The steamer tied up at the M. T. HITCH IN POWER 0ST FOR STREET RAILWAY Company Not Altogéther Satis- fled With Rate Quoted by Commission. ---- Although the Public Utilities Commission fixed the rate of power for the street railway company at -65 cents per kilowatt hour, at the last 'meeting of the Commission, fit was learned on Thursday morning, that the railway company is not al- together satisfied with the arrange- ments made, and that the matter will come before the Commission at its next meeting. When the rate was decided on, and the matter sent to the city soll- citor, the latter stated that this price of .65 cent was not to be taken on the basis of cost, and it is under- stood that it is on this point that the railway company is objecting. However, it is hoped that this mat- ter will be settled satisfactorily to both the company and the city Com- mission at the next meeting, ti si se "Take prescriptions" to Gibson's. Not only in the back yards is there need of a clean- up, but front yards are also in need of attention, while in the homes there is a great deal of work to be done in the line of general house- cleaning, painting- and the like. For some years now, Kingston has had a "Clean-Up Week." and it is hoped that citizens will respond to the appeal and do all in their power to make the clean-up worth while. The civic health committee has made the appeal, and a special ad- vertisement has appeared in The Whig, asking the citizens to fall in line with the idea. From a health standpoint alone, it is up td citizens to have a good cleaning up, and if everyone does his share, Kingston will be noted as a clean city, and will attract much attention. * Get busy and be ready for visitors during the monthg.
