Miller, Brock- villa, was reported to the police. The money, in bills, had been used as advertising for a picnic in the store window, and at closing time was placed in an unlocked vault. During the night the Premises were entered by means of a rear ndow and the bills abstracted. Private Bill Withdrawn. A private bill which has been withdrawn from the order paper of the House of Commons is General A. B. Ross' measure to incorporate the executive council of the Free Methodist Church in Canada, Pro- moters of the bill have signified their intention of not 'Proceeding further with it this session. x Death at Windsor, Th& death occurred at Windsor of Mrs. Gwendolyn Reid Twigg, wite of John Twigg, Windsor barrister. De- ceased was a daughter of Robert Reid, vice-principal of Windsor Col- legiate Institute. The death occurred suddenly after a brief illness. The funeral took place on June 28th, from her late residence, 1589, Bruce avenue. > TL e------ To Be a Fine Spot. The new club house of the Napa- nee Golf and Country Club is near- ing completion and will be ready for use in a couple of weeks. Many | other improvements are being made to the golf course. Ornamental gateways of cobble stones are being" built and the ground surrounding the club house will be improved. Pickpockets are again busy at the bathing beaches about here. On Wednesday, the pockets of two city lads, who were swimming at Sandy bottom, beyond Lake Ontario Park, were rifled of their contents, includ- ing some money. The thieves took thelr belts also. Swimmers will have to beware. Pine Blister Rust. Prof. W. T. MacClement, of the biology department, Quéen's Uni- versity, has just returned from do- ing experimental work for the On- tario Government, in connection with the pine blister rust. The area affected by the rust has been fairly well marked out, but Prof. Mac. Clement's work now consists in find- ing a suitable method of eradicatjon and determining the approximate cost. ---------------------- SPEED OFFICERS T0 ENFORCE THE LAW Careless Lighting on Automo- biles Is to Be Closely _ Checked Up. No longer will the driving-of motor cars on highways at night with only one headlight or the absence of a rear light be tolerated by tha pro- vinclal speed cops. Instructions have been received by the local men to take the numbers of all cars found on the road thus equipped. Glaring headlights, long a complaint for many motorists, is: due for some at- tention from the officers. Held up as the cause of many a bad accident, the men have now authority to sum- mon a driver to court for failing fo have his lights properly adjusted. The Provideial highway officers have received notification of the orders, which Will, no doubt, have the effect of making driving much safer. County police will also enforce the new rules. Mrs. Sarah Judson. Mrs. Sarah Judson, widow of the late Wyatt Judson, died at the Gen- eral Hospital on Thursday after a [ong illness. Deceased was a native of Lyn. The funeral took place to- day to Lyn United Church, where service was conducted in the pres. ence of a large number of friends. Deceased is survived by two broth- jers, Charles D. Hammil and M. H. Hammil, and one daughter, Gladys, of Toronto. Mrs. Judson was fitty- three years of age Hedley Clark. The death is seported, at Detroit, of Hedley C. Clark, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph. B. Clark, Kingston. Deceased passed away at his son's residence from pneumonia, He was, vears ago, employed in Mar- nee & Minnes' house, and later went to Cleveland, where he won success. His wife, formerly Miss Eva Mac. donald of this city, predeceased him years ago, and her death 'Was a great sorrow to him, Hedley used to sing in the choir.of Queen Street Church. Two sisters survive, Miss . Marion Clark, Clifton Springs, N.Y. and Mrs. (Dr.) James Elliott, Winnipeg. The late Mr. Clark was very popular both in Kingston and Cleveland.
