The story for the most part has an outdoor setting, the Canadian wocds in summer, and is beautifully photographed. Clara Bow, as the flapper-mani- curist from Minneapolis, whose sud- den love whim ™ has . resulted in ¢hanging her 'city environment for thay of the Canadian woods, but whose instincts are the sam" wheth- er in the city or at "Manirap Landing," plays a part that fits her perfectly. Miss Bow's work is brils {ant throughout the picture. "Mantrap," from every point of view is ideal entertainment, FINED FOR VIOLATION OF THE 0.T. Lou Marsh in the Toronto Star says: The latest rumor from Queen's Billy Hughes of Montreal is to re- sign from his position as coach of Queen's rugby teams at the end of this season, to be succeeded by Hairy Batstone of Toronto, who is to become director of athletics. What the Intercollegiate has taken up will, al- most of nacessity have to be settled by the Canadian Rugby Union, as all unions this year are playing under the C. R. U. code. The difficulty hag arisen over a question of interpretation of the three-yard interference rule. Referee Joe O'Brien has intimated that his I 1 i i § i ! idea of the rule, based purely on the |: black and white definition and not on what ought or ought not to be, is that interference shall only be allow- ed in a zone from the line of scrim- mage three yards forward and from touchline to touchline. According to the rule the offensive side cannot Interfere behifid its own line of scrimmage. McGill footballers point out that the same rile has been in force for three years and that inter- férénce has been allowed behind the Hine, Further, they hold that it is only common sense thay it be allow: ed or the defending team on each play could force the offending side to illegal interference and thue turn the game info a series of penalties | {for the. offences or reduce it to pure- ly punting... . As'the Intercollegiate Union opens with - the MeGill<Varsity reunion game at the stadium here one week from Saturday, quick ection is ex- pected on. the interpretation to bell placed on an appardntly badly-word- ||] ed paragraph in the code.
