FRASER, / On Occasion of His Severing His Con- mection With Company to Take up Residence inf the South--Made Re- cipient of Gift at Gathering on Thursday. In a most fitting manner the employ ees of the Montreal Transportation Company, Ltd, in this city, paid tri- bute to, Capt. Robert Fraser, who for the past thirteen years has been mar- ine superintendent of the company in Kingston. "Capt. Fraser 1s Jeaving' the com- any to make his home at Long Beach, Cal., owing to the fact that his health has rot been of the Hest, and his physician has advised him to go south, Late Thursday afternoon the employees, with a number of personal friends, gathered in the stock room to say good-bye to Capt. Fraser, and at the same time took advantage of the opportunity of presenting him with a parting gift. . Capt, Fraser has ably looked after his duties, and dur- ing his stay with the company has, by his genial and courteous manner, won the esteem of all the employees. It his with sincere regret that the mem- bers of the staff say farewell to him, but it is their earnest wish that in due time he will be restored to good health, and that he will be in a posi- tion to again return to Kingston, With Mrs. Fraser, he leaves on Sat- urday for his new home. A large circle of friends throughout the city join the staff of the Montreal Trans- portation Company in their best wishes. The e employees of the company pre- 'sented Capt. Fraser with a handsome tie pin and a pait of cuff links, and at the same time ' presented Mrs, Fraser with a lady's companion. E. 'A. Turner, the local agent of the com- pany, ably looked after the duties of master of ceremonies, and before call- ing upon Francis King, solicitor for the company, and "Jack" Sowards to make the presentations read an ad- .dress, which 'was beautifully engross- d and framed. Mr. King and Mr. 'Sowards referred to the many ster- {ling qualities of Capt, Fraser, and 'expressed the deep regret of all the employees 'at his removal from the city. Speeches were also made by Capt. Robert Crawford. and Hugh Welch, manager of the Kingston Shipbuild- ing Company, both personal friends of Capt. Fraser. After 'the speech- making, all joined in singing "For He's a Joll Good Fellow," after which rousing cheers were given for the, genial captain. The address pre- sented to Capt. Fraser read as fol- lows: "From the employees of the Mont- real Transportation Company, Ltd., including the Kingston officials, of- fice staff, elevator, yard employees, tug, barge and steamer crews, to our esteemed friend and co-laborer, Capt. Robert Fraser, on the occasion 'of his severing his connection as marine superintendent of the M.T, Co. "We would ask that you accept these tokens from the employees as a sign of the appreciation in which they have held you during the time of your service with this company, and also as a mark of their esteem for your sterling qualities, exhibited in all your acts towards them. While expressing our sincere regret at the necessity of your leaving this climate, we trust that your health may be comipletely restored before many months are gone. -- "Further, we trust that midst all your new-made friends to be that vou will still have a thought for the friends you made, and which fate had decided you must leave behind in Kingston--Signed, A. Turner, agent, H.-N, McMaster, assistant mar- iné super sitendent." Cant. Fraser made a feeling reply o "the boys," thanking them heart- ily for their kind remembrance on bhe- | halt of Mrs, Fraser and himself. Some few years ago Capt.
