pupils will not be allowed to confine iheir attention to a part of the system laid down to the exclusion of any of the subjects which it embraces it may be observed however that whilst j pupil who remains at the col lege till he has reached the highest form vill be prepared to enter the u- niversiay another whose views may be otherwise directed will be perfectly qualified for mercantile pursuits at an earlier period in the college course with the additional advantage of having acquired a considerable stock of know ledge which will also greatly assist him in attaining his more immediate object diawingwill be taught at the option of the parents a preparatory school will be attach ed to the college and conducted on a corresponding plan under the inspec tion of the principal sum mer from the middle of august to the end of september with a few occasion al holidays all the masteiswill be al lowed to take boarders the whole of the arrangements in tended for the improvement of the district schools cannot at present be carried into effect but if it be found practicable some of their most promis ing scholars will be appointed to exhi bitions at the college the number e-
