"Come take d trip in my Airship." ISN ON Wednesday of this week Messrs C. H. Forrester , Managing director, and P. Lee, pilot, of the Aerial Transport and Taxi Co. Ltd, laid before a special meeting of the Council and several interested citizens, a proposition concerning the estabilshment of an aerial transport service from Winnipeg to the head of the lakes, via Dry- den. The company is prepared to maintain and operate such a service, using the latest type of flying machines, and running on schedule, having an aerodrome and landing station at Dryden; the service to be rapidly extended to a trans-Canada route, with connocting lines to the south, and which will ultimately become the main line on a round-the-world, all-Red route. That there are obstacles to be surmounted before this is accomp- of lished is, of course, not to be disputed. Nothing worth while ever was done without effort. The biggest obstacle and the hardest to overcome is the attitude of hesitation as to the feasibility and prac- tical nature of the scheme on the part of the general public, convince people that the establishment of-such a service is no longer Fa matter of speculation is the chief purpose of the above-named gentlemen on their present trip. Under the stress of war the aeroplane within a few years has developedp from the experimental to the practical stage, and is aceep- "| ted to-day as an achieved success. The aeroplane is a fact. It is a demonstrated utility, safe practical, controllable, and as incontrovert- ible as the electric light or the telephone, To question this 1s to © | coniess that you are behind the times, and out of touch with the pro- gress of the world. Accepting this as proven, what does the aerial Co. propose to us? They will build: an aerodrome in Dryden, with gas tanks, wireless telephone, and such other apparatus as is necessary for the carrying cast or west for merchandise or passengers, as safe and convenient, > aud far more rapid, than any other service in existence. And no one can say what further developments may yet be possible, In return, they ask that Dryden provide the necessary landing il tom a flying machine, and the films will be shown in the large cities all over the continent. . The beauty and 'attractiveness of our district will be advertised widely, and Dryden will be marked on the map: as 'one of the towns on the aerial highway. ; 5 No on cawn fail to see the tremendous advantages to us of this j publicity. And that means prosperity. Lut your town on the map. Assure yourself of your share in the profits of this great business of the future. Do not hesitate for fear the scheme is that of irresponsible visionaries. The, plan is backed "by the most conservative of business men, and you are safe-guarded by the practical judgement of the shrewdest business men in this district, who are associating themselves with the plans. of the com- pany. The shares are $1 each, and can therefore be acquired by those who do not usually have such opportunities, Mayor A. R. Hutchison is chairman of the local committee, and is in charge of the selling of stock in this district, and can give information to anyone interested as to the business nature of the proposition. As you desire to boost yout town, it will be well to see him as soon as possible to secure the advantages that the establishment of this great service will bring. This is the age of flying. Think of the low cost of aerial road upkeep. The aeroplane requires no rails, roadbeds or pavements. . I'he aeroplane has passed thie experimental, the sensational and the heroic stages. [It is now a commercial proposition with unlimited possibilities.
