P.P. gives notice that Dryden will be honored by a visit from Premier Drury and Cabinet on Friday May 28th. The full details of their programme are not yet to hand, but the mere announcement of the visit arouses the greatest interest in the community. The Mayor will proclaim a public holiday, and it is expected that every line o fhusiness will be closed for the day, so that all may have an oppor- tunity to welcome the Premier. Every citizen, every lodge, club and organi- zation in town and district will be asked to co- operate in making this a notable day in our history. Dryden will spare no effort to entertain her distinguished visitors. : The unsurpassed attractions that this district offers to the settler and investor must no longer remain undeveloped for lack of attention being drawn to them. We have a duty to ourselves, as well as to the rest of the community, to encourage the open ing up of these resources. The measure- less ric ness of our farm lands, the great extent of our forest wealth, and the growing importance of our mining properties, are gaining widespread attention, and such a great occasion must be ex- ploited to the fullest advantage. -- An Appreciation DRYDEN is coming into its own. Many causes have combined to put this district in the forefront of public notice; but it will be generally conceded that not a little of the prominence now being enjoyed is due to the untiring efforts of our local member. To a personal modesty and disinteres- tedness that is remarkable, Pete Heenan adds an aggressive energy on behalf of the community he represents that will not be denied. Hardly a week passes that is not marked by some accomplish- ment to advance the interests of the district in its business, educational or political affairs. Only his persistent policy of self-abnegation PIOVeniS him from getting the full credit that his work deserves. But efficient and honest a service cannot' fail in time to become noticed, however carefully the moving spirit may disguise his presence. And many in the Kenora District who once regarded Heenan as the prototype of a narrow' class move- ment now recognize in him a man of wider vision, 'who strives earnestly to fulfil his high office as} representative of all. shades of opinion, without}. jas or favor. Over the whole Kenora District his name is Tl with recognition of his sincerity and honesty of purpose. On every hand we hear the word that " Pete Heenan is making good!"
