B. Beveridge, was attended by 'a large and enthusiastic number of citizens. It was anply demor.- strated tha the committee which was appaointed last spring met with the approval of citizens, and that the need of a hosital in this district was thoroughly recog- nised. The chairman called upon the Rev. R. Wilson to submit the in- formation that had been gathered, and to explain why a public rather than a private hospital had been decided upon. Mr Wilson show- ed that the private hospital was greatly restricted in its usefulness to the community, and also that a public hospital alloged a freer control and was entitled to gov- ernment support at the rate of 3oc a day for each patient under treat- ment. As the meeting unanimously approved of the main idea, after i Call At the evening service in St. uke's Church Sunday last the Rector intimated that he had re- ceived a call from hi > home parish, inviting him to devote his services to the Church in a larger fieid. "And I have decided to accept the call," he announced quietly. The astonishment, though re- str ained, that was apparent in the | cgngregation at the wholly un- expected announcement, was but a reflection of the general feeling of the community on learning the news. That the incumbent of St. Luke's must occupy a promin- ert part in the life of the district is. inevitable; but when he is a minister with the personal char- acteresties that hav distinguished the Rev. Robt. Wilson, it is but natural -thatythe separation must be. looked forward to with regret. | iThe sense of loss to our own parish and district, however, must" be tempered by consideration of ' the opportunity that 'is offered ! Mr Wilson, "The opportunity is | that of assistant minister to All' ; ks some preliminary discussion of details the appointment of a per-' manent committee was proceeded with. chairman and eleven members--~ five men and five women -- was considered a suitable body of management. To get the scheme in immediate operation, the present Board is composed of citizens of Dryden, but with power to add to 'their number and arrange such altera- tions as will allow of representa- tives from neighbouring commun- ities to take their share of the management. As the whole inten- tion is to make the hospital of the utmost service to the entire dis- trict, this arrangement will permit {of the greatest possible benefit." The Sollowing were appointed as the Hospital Board: Rev. R. Wilson (chairman), Mrs D. Hut- chisen, Mrs Dingwall,> Mrs Pitt, Mrs Morris, Mrs Latimer; Messrs JH. Hill, I. Russell, H. Willard, ORRY PROLONG YOUR LIFE nT Brignall, A. Pitt. Mr]. S Golden was appointed treasurer, and Mr H. Humphries Soamtyey of the Board. NAVY TL EAGUE DRIVE. Vir Wachman reports that the Navy League benifits to the amount of $224.25 from the con- tribution of Dryden.
