The fact which I first noticed was the quantity of cut flowers. Secarcely any- one expected to see flowers after such an early frost as Dryden experienced this year. The exhibitors arranged the flowers so nicely and the perfume was lovely. Gverthing on exhibit was arranged artistically, this credit is due to those who laboured there in the morning. It is very necessary to say the work of the little tots was indeed exceed- ingly well done. The Fair did not only show the efforts of the children of the last few days, but of the spring and summer The vegetable show, I believe, was not as good as other years. Of course that is partly due to the late season, but potatoes, turnips, To the crowd who heard Dr Alex- i ander on Thursday evening, the fascin- * ating nature of the first lecture was a revelation. The use of the Union Church building was granted solely because the mill hall was not available, and the lectures are absolutely unde- nominational in character, being purely scientific. Parents who have difficult children, and wives with difficult husbands, should not miss the instructive lectures as they supply the basis of better un- derstanding and management. They are indeed wonderfully illuminating. The humour of getting well-known men on the platform and having their characters told in a masterly manner, is irresistibly funny. The four victims last night furnished the very best en- tertainment to the audience although they squirmed a bit under the keen analysis. It looks as if the boys and girls are not taking such a keen interest in BULK CHOCOLATES 50c. to $1.00 per Ib CHOCOLATE BARS, Mixed 6 for 25c. All Kinds of FRESH MIXED CANDIES, per Ib bec. Now, this ought to be seen to, because raising cattle, horses and pigs can be done to a large ex- tent quite easily in this farming vacin- ity. There were ony three calves at the show, all in the best of condition, and goat-raising was represented also. This drew much attention. The fowl exhibit was better than any previous year. Twenty-three crates of Plymouth Rocks was the total. The girls of the town made a splendid show: WE HAVE TAKEN ON THE AGENCY FOR THE WELL- KNOWN WESTINGHOUSE LINE All our sets are complete with B ment and can be fully installed RADIOLA MODEL 3, will rece with head telephones, price knitting. How important a fact it is that the children be encouraged in order that they continue such beneficial work, some of us do not realize. The school teachers showed such sincere interest in the kiddies and gave them such training in everything in everything' they found needfud; much praise and congratulations is owed to them. We must not forget to mention the active part which our representative, My M. F. Cook, took on our Fair Day. The prize money was distributed among the successful winners by Mr Cook, assisted by Miss Ingall. After this was completed, Mr Cook gave a short speech, thanking all who aided in the work, and thanking our Dryden teachers for the interest they had shown in the children, also praising the little ones for their endeavours. The Fair was indeed a success, but the unanimous opinion of all was that the town hall is hardly large enough for such an event. Congregational Meeting In the cosy atmosphere surrounding the cheerful wood stove, those who attended the congregational meeting in Union Church on Monday evening quickly adjusted their varying opinions to the unanimous sentiment, and took the decisions necessary te sustain the Church as a living force in the com- munity. . Upon the recommendation of Dr Cormie, whose good offices had been sought in the crisis, the meeting argeed to send a call to Rev. M. Rivers of Winnipegosis, inviting him to take charge of the Dryden field. The responsibility of preparing a resi- dence for the reception of the new.
