In response to numerous requests from Northern Ontario settlers, the Ontario Government's Department of Agriculture has decided to give fin- ancial assistance to settlers in pur- chasing dairy cows, says the Globe. Through the Northern Develop- ment Branch, according to Hon. John S. Martin, Minister of Agricul- ture, the Government proposes to ad- vance 75 per cent of the cost price of animals, the purchaser to pay the balance in cash and give his note and a lien on the animal as security for the balance, with interest at 5 per cent., to be deducted from cream cheques, at creameries from time to time, in ae- cordance with arrangements to be made with the purchaser. The settlers will name a representa- tive to assist a Government officer in the selection of animals. The terms are to be available in any section of New Ontario where settlers are pre- pared to make purchase in carload lots.
