Here a welcome drink was handed around by Mrs. Hellem. Water pail was soon emptied, for we were very warm, owing to having to keep the door closed on account of the mosquitoes. Miss Hdna . Cross. and Mr. BE Schultz then gave a piano and cornet number, this number was very well rendered and we all wished there could have been more, but time was flying fast, and Mrs. Winterbottom and Mrs. Morris presented a skit entitled "Hired and Fired," and we must pay tribute ito their skill, not only in action, but make up. The HEagle River Band then played three numbers, all keenly enjoyed. There were many articles on dis- play which deserve honorable men- tion, for they were all of excellent workmanship, all made of inexpensive materials, but never-the-less very dear to the makers, and we take pleasure in announcing that the first prize went to one of our own mem- bers, Mrs. Peterson, who had made a lovely afgan from wool produced. washed, carded and spun by her mother, Mrs. F. D. Anderson, dyed and crocheted by Mrs. Peterson. We must pay tribute to the varigated dying. A combination underwear suit, made from this same wool, by Miss H. Anderson, was also on dis- play, and deserves credit to our digtrict." A child's '"gertrude,"' made entirely from sock tops, took second prize by Mrs. Newman, Rideout, and this too, was really a work of art, and looked so very dainty, although one gets the impression that sock tops could not be such. © All the articles displayed were very, very fine pieces. This exhibition made up a large part of our meeting, and was keenly ex- amined by all the ladies. ; We then wound up the business with election of officers and the National Anthem. We expect to meet many of our friends next year at Rideout, where we have peen invited for the Annual. We have had great pleasure in en- tertaining the ladies of the District, and trust that we shall again have the pleasure at some future date. We wish to extend thanks to all the visiting ladies who contributed to the programme, to our own talent, to Mr. Cross for the band numbers, to the girls who took the work of ithe lunch off us, and lastly but by no means least, to Mr. Stephenson for his especial kindness in permitt- ing us to use the Hall Before leaving to catch No. the Kenora ahd Keewatin ladies were given a further lunch at the hotel, some of our members assisting Mrs. Gardiner with this.
