Rand. Mrs. Ruete and the Misses Evelyn and Florence Crigger were in town Monday. ; * Ed * An enthusiastic by the farmers of Minnitaki on Fri- day evening in the interests of the Liberal-Labor Party, to appoint dele- gates to the Kenora Convention. Frank Shapland, Pine Grove, and Percy Launder, Minnitaki, were elect- ed delegates and resolutions were passed for consideration at the Con- vention. The meeting felt that the issueing of direct relief was not in the best interests of the community, except in cases where there were no wage earners in the family, and had useful work been given out among the settlers and wages paid in cash in- stead of relief orders, that the money would have no doubt changed hands a good many times, like the parson's bad ten dollar bill, before it finally reached the store-keeper, he, in his turn would have been able to supply goods at a lower price, it then being a cash business rather than waiting two to four months for his money from the Government. We then could all quit worrying whether it were really true that some receiving. relief were as wealthy as roumoured and actually did have as much as two dollars in the bank.
