Concert and Whist Drive DINORWIC--A Concert and Whist Drive was held in the School-room 'on Friday evening, under the auspice of ~ Friday-- Darwin was A Special 6-part Comedy the D.S.C. When there was a good attendance, Songs were given by W. Brown and the School Children, Recitations by B. Lyon and Miss E, G. Wright. Selec- tions on the Mouth Organ, B. McCartey Indian Club swinging, Miss E. G. Wright, and an amusing dialogue was given by Miss Wright and her pupils "How -the story grew," which caused much laughter. The prize-winners in Monday-- Comedy-- The Silent Stop, Look and Whistle! the Whist Drive were: Ladies, Miss Wright; Boobys, Mrs Ovenstone. Gents W. Brown; Booby's, B. McCartey. At the close of the entertainment, lunch was served by the lady members of the Club. --Tuesday atch held a Confirmation Service on Sun- day morning, May 24, when six can- didates (Males) were presented for Confirmation by Rev. Smith, and the sermon preached by the Bishop, who also gave a very earnest address to the Candidates. A short. service was held in the Church on Saturday night especially for the Candidates and their friends, addresses being given by R. A. Smith. This was very well staged and acted, the moral of the play being to outstretch our hands to all, heathen and coloured people too, to complete a perfect picture. Mrs Gray, Diocesan Secretary, spoke at length on the work of the girls, particularly the 'teen age girls' who them interested until they were old enough to join the W.A. The girls the Dominion funds. This concluded the first days programme. ; Thursday morning session 'opened with a hymn and the Women's Auxil- iary Prayer. Rev T. H. Broughton took Devotional Exercises and made appropriate re- marks. Mention was made that the "cent a day" birthday fund books were not closed at the end of December like other W.A. Books. A suggestion was made that these funds be sent in about every three months. Birthday money is for any local calls where funds are not provided in the ordinary way. Next came Miss Carpenter, Secret- ary of the Sunday School by Post. There were 112 families getting literature by this means--=69 being around the Dryden District. The girls gave small sums to give Christmas Cards to those children. One family recently out from England, wrote Miss Carpenter that this literature was the r only means of Christmas they had as h, they were too far away to attend any i Church--even at Christmas.
