"Kenora has a royal flush in her hand, which properly played will se- cure a big tourist trade, and the peo- ple who come here will win moire than you do," said Dr Doolittle, pre- sident of the Canadian Motor League in his address on the 'Trans-Canada Highway" at the court house, Kenora Monday night. Such were the opening remarks of Dr Doolittle in one of the most inter- esting, optimistic and fascinating ad- dresses ever given in Kenora, through the efforts of Mr F. V. Witts;, Presi- dent of the Kenora Motor Club, and Col. Fife, President of the Board of Trade. "The. Lake of the Woods," he said, is really one of God's particular flow- ers. You have the whole of the eastern part of this continent beaten if you treat your visitors right. They want good hotel accommodation and with the highway opened your hotel would be swamped for three months. The hotel man is the most important per- son in the community. If the hotel man don't treat the visitors right they leave dissatisfied. = Dryden, he said, should have a good hotel, as with the construction of the to have a stopping place between Ke- nora and Fort William. There was no necessity for big hotels, but the hotel- man should be in touch with the best people in the town who would, when his place was crowded, put up the visitors at their homes at the reguler rate for rooms. That is the spirit of hospitality. On a portion of the British Colum- bia trip he hand been accompaned by Lyons, Minister of Lands and Forests of Ontario, who he said was determined to complete the Ontario portion of the highway as Col A. T. Fife, chairman of the Board of Trade, presided and intro- Mayor Pitt, of Dryden, was in town addressed by Dr Doolittle in the court house in the evening. Mr Pitt has for years been a prominent and consistent advocate of the Trans-Can- ada Highway, and never misses an opportunity to forward the cause, As he had been associated with Dr Doo- little on several occasions in this connection, he was invited here by the Kenora Motor Club to again meet the distinguished advocate of this great project. As Dryden is included in the route of the highway, that town has already put in shape the streets which will be used for this purpose, and they propose to make it one of the best on the whole highway.
