Drop in to-day PRONGER " HEMSTiITCHING DONE AT THE DRYDEN OBSERVER 'Ford Romps Away in Thrilling Race Remarkable Performance Given by Light Car in Event in London, Ont. LONDON, Ont., Oct. 12,--The prover- bial thrill that comes once in a life- 'lime came to hundreds of Ford owners ;in the grandstand at the western fair vecently when they saw a standard Ford romp away from Whippet and Chevrolet competitors in the special five-mile race on the Queen's park track. The Ford finished nearly six hundred yards ahead of the other con- testants, making the five-mile grind in 7.27. The race was a special feature of the fair program, resulting from a challenge issued by the Whippet repre- sentatives to all owners of light cars. The spectators saw a thrilling race despite the fact that the Ford led the whole way. For the first four miles the contest was exceptionally keen between the Whippet and the Ford, bot the Chevrolet was easily lapped. The Whippet made good time on the corners, but on the straight the Ford zoomed ahead like a racing car. ROD AND GUN Many featuresdealing with all kinds of outdoor sport combine to make a very attractive magazine of the October issue of Rod and Gun the publication of which falls in line with the opening of the fall hunting season in Canada. A novel means of pursuing game is dealt with by Raymond Thompson in an article "Hunting and Fishing via Scow." The country is the vicinity of the Athabasca River in Alberta. The interior of British Columbia is the scene of "Three FishersWent Trailing" by Robert Watson. A timely article by an old timer is an article on methods of duck shooting by Frank J. Parsons,' which contains a number of goodwrink- les. A. Bryan Williams concludes his good series of articles "Breezes from the West" in this issue, while a useful series of articles on first aid in the bush by A. G. Shakespeare commences. Another of Frie's inimitable cartoons is one of the special features of the issue and a special article covering the D.C.R.A. matches at Ottawa, also appears in the October number. Rod and Gun is published monthly by W. J. Taylor, Ltd., Woodstock, Ont. Classified FOR SALE--1926 FORD COUPE IN frst class condition, equipped with spare tire, $300.00 Cash. 1. J.
