A BAGE TWO bp Sram * BHE DRYDEN OBSERVER )ISTRICT N EWS EAGLE RIVER 3 By A. F. R. 1% I The Eagle River W. I. held their monthly meeting last Wednesday at ithe home of Mrs. Granbom. After the preliminary routine the meeting got nicely under way and several items and other interests were dis- cussed. Roll call suggestions amused us for a time. Final arrangements for the District Annual Meeting were made. Mrs. Gardiner read a paper on the committee subjects, and then we decided that the topic for the next meeting would be "A Thought From the District Annual" After closing in the usual manner, Mrs. Granbom served coffee and sand- wiches and our usual small talk was indulged in while partaking the coffee. Mrs. Benson was a very wel- come visitor. The next meeting is at the home of Mrs. Ruete, the last Wednesday in June. DINORWIC By T. Hauta. Mrs. Max Naumann was a visitor to Dryden during the week. A very pretty wedding took place at the home of Wilhelm Bartz on Tuesday evening, June 6th, 1933, when Lydia Truderung became the bride of Wilhelm Bartz. The bride looked very charming in a lovely ankle length frock of white silk made on form fitting lines. She wore a bridal veil of white net and carried a bouquet of tulips and lilacs. The bride was attended by Verna Lyon and Saimi Hauta, who acted as bridesmaids; and the groomsmen were Fred Besselt and Otto Ponietel bein. The: Rev, 0. ¥T. Hinricks, of Port Arthur performed the ceremony. After the ceremony a reception was held in honor of the bride and the happy -couple received their guests. Those helping to serve were: O. Schiefelbein, Verna Lyon, Saimi Hauta, Fred Besselt and Mrs. M. Techo. Over 70 guests were preseat at the reception. The bride was the recipient of many handsome gifts. Mr. and Mrs. W. Bartz will reside ir Dinorwie. DYMENT A. Borup was a visitor to Dryden last Monday. MINNITAKI By Mrs. Geo. E. Lyle. Miss Alice Shapland read a paper, the motto of which was "that good enough is not good enough unless it is our very best." Mrs. Shapland then addressed the members on 'how we should conduct.' our meetings," and gave us some very good advice. Plans were made for a Sale of Work, Entertainment and Dance to be held in the school on June 9th. The various committees were then ap- pointed and the meeting closed by singing the National Anthem. Lunch was then served by Mrs. Shapland. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Carl Oberg on July 6th. There was--and is--the Clean- Your-Teeth slogan. Why clean your teeth? Because if you don't they'll decay and pretty fast. too. = But investigation shows that cleaning teeth has nothing to do with preserving them. In Dr. Speer's words, cleaning teeth is an esthetic activity. To brush them in order to keep them good looking is sensible enough. To do so in order to save them is to indulge in misplaced energy. Ther there is the--how old. is it by this time?--emphasis upon fresh air. It has always been a mystery why people who don't bother about seeing that every window in sight is open get JUNE th, 103, along as comfortably as those|l to whom a closed window is a challenge if not an insult, but that didn't stop the health fad- dists. Now it is found that movement of the air is rather more important than its fresh- ness. One of the Yotest health crot- chets is the height-weight formu- lary, accepted with the reverence due to all unprovable pronounce- ments by health educators, who are too scientific to be aware of such a thing as the existence of individual differences. Health-consciousness, diet-con- sciousness, digestion-mindedness --if poor old humanity were not incurably healthy, it would have sueeumbed to its own violent ef- forts .to make itself so.
