Age 74; born in Holly Springs, MS to Rannie and Hollie Bowen; grew up in Chicago and Evanston; 1951 graduate of E.T.H.S., played trumpet in the band and star member of the track and football teams; offered a full scholarship to Northwestern but enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic, after 21 years retired in 1972 from Travis AFB in Fairfield, CA as a Technical Sergeant, veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars, member of AF Sergeants Association; 20-year second career with Unical Oil Refinery in Rodeo, CA as Head Unit Operator, retired in 1992; preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Moutry, Charles, Ranniel and James Edward Bowen
