Virginia Jeanne Gottschalk was born in Chicago to George H. and Lulu (Daniels) Foss. She was 92 when she died at Manor Court in Peoria, IL. She married Arthur Gottschalk on Nov. 20, 1943 in Chicago. He preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 2001. In 1960, Jean and Art moved to Peoria to raise their family in a community they came to love. They were among the first members of Willow Knolls Country Club and the newly-formed St. Vincent de Paul parish, where Jean was a life-long volunteer. Jean was a loving wife and mother who gave her family all the support they needed while still finding time to do things she loved. Jean immersed herslf in life with square-dancing, bowling, singing with a chorus, and mastering new recipes, crafts and skills. She was a never-wavering Cubs fan. She came to love golf later in life and playing into her 80s. In retirement, she and Art often traveled with 5 couples who included her best girlhood friends. Jean enjoyed corn Stock theatre productions and eating out with her dinner group. She was good at loving people and enjoying what life offered. Art once wrote of her that she was a (kind, loving, and thoughtful [woman]; fun-loving, charming, and an interesting companion.( She was well-loved by those who knew her best, and she loved them well in return.
