Longtime resident of Wilmette; attended New Trier H.S. and U. of Illinois; WWII veteran in U.S. Army from January 1944-November 1946, served on island of Luzon, in first occupation division to enter Nagasaki; became a police officer in Wilmette in 1949, retired as chief of operations in 1979; received an award from Wilmette Chamber of Commerce for bravery and a commendation from U.S. Secret Service after arresting two leaders of national counterfeit ring; member of Illinois Police Association; director of security at Horizon Federal Bank; past president of Wilmette Lions Club and Wilmette Optimist Club; 12-year resident of Fairfield Bay, AR; preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Symons Graf and three brothers, Rienhold, Robert and Charles - Date of Publication
